New Image Church Staff
Dr. Paul Thompson
A long time friend of this ministry, Pastor Paul is happy to now call New Image his home church. Since joining the staff in July 2013, he has become Pastor of Administration and Discipleship. He is specifically charged with developing the church's discipleship mission, which includes development and oversight of small groups and discipleship classes and developing a consistent church-wide discipleship theme.
In addition, he oversees the Care Pastors, Guest Services, and the Ushers. He preaches from time to time at the pleasure of pastor Eric.
Pastor Paul is a professional educator, author, and an active community member. His full time job is as professor and chair of the department of history at North Greenville University, in Tigerville, S.C. From 2011 to 2013 he was founding board president of Lead Academy, a public charter school in Greenville, S.C.
Pastor Paul holds a PhD in American History, is a graduate of the Diversity Leaders Initiative program of The Riley Institute at Furman University, and holds a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Duke University.
Children are the heart and joy of my life. I believe that a child's innocent heart and faith can move mountains and save souls quicker than any adult! I believe that if we teach our children how to tap into their faith, we will raise up a mighty generation of warriors for Christ.
As a teen, I worked along side my children's pastor and spent many hours training for a calling that at that I did not yet realize was on my life. I attended and graduated from North Greenville University with an Associate in Arts Degree. My education focused on teaching children, and during my time at North Greenville I participated in every opportunity I could find to work with children in various ministry settings.
I married my wonderful husband at a young age, and he has always been my rock. We have been married for over 14 years and have two beautiful children of our own. During our marriage we have attended several churches but I have always found myself drawn to fellowshipping with children rather than adults.
When we first came to New Image in 2006, we were drawn by the love that we felt from Pastor Eric and the congregation. Prior to 2013, I had not been working with our children, but that year, for the first time in several years God showed me a need to love and minister to children that I could not ignore. I realized how much I missed working with children.
I responded to the call of God that year, and have never looked back. My heart is truly overwhelmed by the honor, privilege, and joy I feel as I work to raise up the next generation of disciples of Jesus Christ! It is truly a life changing experience!
